A Nite to Unite - for Kids

The Entertainment Software Association’s eigth annual charity dinner ‘A Nite to Unite - for Kids’ will be held on Tuesday, October 18th at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.
A Nite to Unite — for Kids (NTU) is an annual dinner hosted by the ESA and supported by members of the ESA and the interactive entertainment industry to raise funds for the ESA Foundation. NTU is an unprecedented effort by the interactive entertainment community to come together to celebrate the industry’s continuing growth and success, while helping to make a difference in the lives of America’s kids. To date NTU has raised over $6.7 million benefiting various organizations.
The ESA Foundation has been around since 1998, when its members “collectively stepped up to support charitable causes.” They began the annual Nite to Unite - for Kids dinner, which raised over $1.6 million in 1998 and 1999. The money went to benefit the Child Welfare League of America.
This year, the foundation will benefit: the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA); Delinquency Prevention Initiative (DPI), the National Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE), and Web Wise Kids.
The hosts for this year’s events include: Kathy Vrabeck, President of Activision Publishing, Inc., David Zucker, President and CEO of Midway Games, Inc., and Jim Ward, President of Lucas Arts. George Lucas will also be in attendance as the foundation’s Champion Honoree.
You can contribute by bidding on the eBay auctions here. They have some interesting things going, that are, unfortunately, way out of my budget.

[...] Auction bidding for the Entertainment Software Association’s charity eBay items has now opened with some huge, and I mean huge items going up for auction. Be sure to head over and drool, even if you don’t have the cash to bid. You’re not going to get the chance to get ahold of too many Star Wars Skywalker Light Sabers autographed by George Lucas himself. The accompanying benefit dinner goes down next week on the 18th in San Francisco. [...]
