Addictive Online Games

The Maze

Time wasters unite! If you’re like me, than you don’t like doing work. Nay, you loathe doing work and will do anything in your power to procrastinate about it until the deadline creeps within strangling distance.

While it’s not considered managerially acceptable to bring your console into work in order to whittle away the hours, I can do my part to help you slack off by giving you a couple of links to browser based games that will make an eight hour work day seem like a walk in the park.

I’ll start with The Maze game, which reminds me an awful lot of what a day at the office used to feel like. It’s so simple to play, requiring just the arrow keys and the Enter button, and yet after a dozen or so levels, so darn frustrating that you’ll want to throw your ergonomically design pencil sharpener at it. Think of it as PacMan with a day job. (source)

On a more insidiously evil level of addictiveness is Tricky’s Riddles, a game that will no doubt appeal to all you coders out there. Follow the clues in URLs and page source codes to navigate your way through the never-ending (I think there are around 100) levels. Expect to get really aggravated when you get stuck in the early going. This one gets easier to play as you start to learn the tricks and patterns in the clues. Be sure to read the instruction page that I linked to. If Tricky’s Riddles didn’t stump you, there’s a similar game called “this is not prOn” to tease and annoy.

Enjoy! And don’t blame me if your boss notices a slide in productivity.
