Amazon Moves 17 Wiis…Per Second
No wonder I couldn’t get ahold of one this holiday season! Nintendo was right to worry about shortages for the Wii, they couldn’t get them on the shelves fast enough to satisfy consumer demand.
One online retailer alone, and no minor player at that, had astounding numbers over the 2007 feeding frenzy. Amazon has reported a record holiday season, thanks in large part due to the strong sales of the little white Nintendo console. While stock still remained, the retailer sold a whopping 17 Wiis per second. Wow. That’s over 1000 per minute and almost 1.5 million per day.
