Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance

So, over the weekend I got around to finishing the PS2 version of Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance. The game proved highly addictive, stealing from me hours of daylight, and making me forget all about that vast and practically unexplored world I like to call: Outdoors. Quite happily, I maneuvered my elven sorceress around the different maps, slay things, blew things up - and myself, on occasion, found spiffy new weaponry and armor, and had myself a jolly good time defeating the Big, Bad and Uglies.
Still, as the credits rolled, I couldn’t help but be disappointed. How could it be over? My sack was full of awesome weapons worth many thousands of gold coins, and now I wouldn’t get to sell them! How could they deny me my much-deserved shopping spree?! Did they think defeating Eldrith was enough? Did they think I’d be content just knowing I’d freed spirits, destroyed the tower and blah blah blah? No! I wanted to sell stuff. I wanted to buy bigger and better weapons. I wanted bigger and better armor. I wanted more levels, and more potent spells! I wanted more challenging bad guys!
Sigh.
So, naturally, yesterday I started the Xbox version of Dark Alliance II, which so far, is quite awesome. I love getting to equip more than one weapon, even if my character is more of a martial artist (I’m thinking of switching characters, ’cause even though I love playing Elves, I think she kinda sucks). My only annoyance is that I can’t seem to find a vendor. Not one vendor. An entire town, and not one vendor! Why do they do this to meeeeee?!
I think I’ll have to go to the mall soon and buy myself something shiny to make myself feel better. Something like Guild Wars.

YES GET GUILD WARS. :D
That’s the nice thing about MMORPG’s, they never end, even if you finish the story / chapter versions of it.
I’ve been a huge fan of the Baldur’s Gate series on the PC, including Icewind Dale and Tales from the Sword Coast. I was sorely disappointed when Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance was not released on the PC but I do believe that Atari has Baldurs Gate III and Neverwinter Nights II in the works.

I think I will be getting Guild Wars later on this afternoon when I finally venture out of the apartment. I love MMORPGs, though I think I’ve lost months of my life to them. ;)
I haven’t tried Baldur’s Gate for the PC, yet, but I may give them a whirl one of these days. Neverwinter Nights is another of those titles I’ve been wanting to try but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
There’s not enough hours in the day! :)

Do yourself a favor and skip Guild Wars if you enjoy solo play more than Group play. Also skip it if you do not have a dedicated group to play with you as I found it difficult to get groups. Neverwinter Nights is a must as will be the upcoming Neverwinter Nights 2.
