BlizzCon

by Ingrid on September 27th, 2005

Blizzard Entertainment, of Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft fame, are hosting BlizzCon, October 28-29th in the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Tickets are now avaiable for a grand total of $125, so if you’re a fan, and have that kind of money to spare, perhaps you can pick me up a couple of free goodies from the convention. ;)

So what exactly will be going on at this BlizzCon event? Well, the BlizzCon site lists the following:

*Q&A panels with the World of Warcraft and StarCraft: Ghost developers
*Playing World of Warcraft Battlegrounds live with friends
*1st public hands-on gameplay of StarCraft: Ghost
*BlizzCon Invitational Tournament, featuring top Warcraft III and StarCraft professional gamers from around the world
*A separate LAN area stocked with PCs for your gaming pleasure
*Contests for die-hard gamers to compete in for great loot
*Custom BlizzCon merchandise and other Blizzard merchandise in the BlizzCon store

The popular band The Offspring will also be performing. And my good friend and fellow gamer girl, Jenn, informs me that Blizzard is giving a “murloc pet” to those buying tickets to the convention. What’s a murloc? Well, it’s a little creature in WoW that looks like a fish on legs. I like them cause they’re often shiny and colorful, but they did kill me on many occasions, and I hate them for that. Bastards. But apparently people are buying tickets just to receive the murloc pet. That’s dedication.

I already have too many pets in that game: my hunter pet, “Magic”, a little kitten that I got from the Crazy Cat Lady, and a panda cub that came with my Collector’s Edition. And yet, a murloc pet sounds awfully tempting. Alas, $125 is a bit out of my budget, so it’ll have to wait for a future BlizzCon.

What I really want is a pet dragon.

But I digress. The BlizzCon website has all of the information you need. So mosey on over.

If you come back to WoW and reroll as Horde on Spirestone, I will farm you a whelpling. ^^ They come in emerald-black-crimson. I’ll get you one ^^ Promise ^^ It might take several days of ingame farming, but that would be worth it ^^ Please ^^ Pretty please ^^

[…] You may remember Ingrid posting about last year’s event here at Play-Girlz (ha! can you believe they still let us blog nearly a year in?). According to a Blizzard employee on the game’s forums, they haven’t even begun to think about this year’s gathering. And why? BlizzCon “isn’t intended as an annual event”. Shock and horror! […]
