Bluetooth Nunchuk Could Up Ante On Mobile Gaming
Jealous that you didn’t get a Wii for Christmas and yearning to be the secret ninja that you know you are in your heart? As long as you have a mobile phone you’re in luck! The Zeemote will soon be here to save the day.
Peripheral maker Zeetoo has recently secure a large sum ($6.9 million USD) in funding to greenlight an analogue controller for mobile phones much in the same spirit of the Wii Nunchuck. Taking advantage of Bluetooth connectivity, it’s hoped that the tiny stick and button set will help to move mobile gaming into a new era of quality games. A fairly limited player interface has, in the past, been used as an excuse for shoddy games hitting the market, but if technology continues to advance that makes mobile gaming essentially the same as console play, expect to see better outputs from the developers and a demand for higher quality selection from consumers.
The nifty gadgets are expected to go into full production this year and have a price range somewhere between $30-$50. They’ve been having a go at a wide variety of different cell phone makers just to make sure that the Zeemote will play nice with the phone’s existing technology and don’t seem to have encountered any major problems.
Generally speaking I’m not that desperate for a gaming fix that I’d be likely to whip out my Zeemote for a crazy game of Heroes on the tube, but some people are and I bet they’re just itching to get their thumbs on this thing. All the power to them.
