Bona Fide Gaming Nazis

by Erin on November 30th, 2005

Prussian Blue

I use the word ‘Nazi’ in conversation all the time to describe someone that, as my grandmother used to say “has a pickle up their butt”. Think of Seinfield’s Soup Nazi (remember: “I am the soup Nazi! No soup for you!”), applied to everything from bank loans to multiplayer FPS romps (No kill for you!).

Well this time I’m not just making use of curious phraseology, I literally have found gaming Nazis. You may, or may not have heard of a controversial musical group called Prussian Blue, who make the rounds performing at white nationalist rallies and think that defensive racism is a grand idea. They’re perfectly blonde and blue-eyed, they’re twins…but here’s the kicker: they’re 13 years old.

Lynx and Lamb Gaede are therefore in the prime age group to start taking an interest in video games, and they’ve found that appeals to their tighty whitey sensibilities. When not performing for the KKK, they enjoy playing Ethnic Cleasing, a video game by Resistance Records where you wipe out other races to preserve white purity. The description according to the game site:

The Race War has begun. Your skin is your uniform in this battle for the survival of your kind. The White Race depends on you to secure its existence. Your peoples enemies surround you in a sea of decay and filth that they have brought to your once clean and White nation.

Not one of their numbers shall be spared……..

Holy hate mongering Batman! Be careful clicking any links on that site if you’re going to visit, as some of them lead to material that is definitely NSFW. It brings up a curious question really, with all the violence complaints out there today. What separates a racist killing game from any other FPS on the market? You shoot things, kill things, there’s blood…sure, Ethnic Cleansing might have a very overt and inflammatory message, but in essence, as far as the gameplay and style go, it’s no different than anthing else. Where does the free speech line fall when it comes to entertainment like this? And can we legitimately place our favourite shooty-shoots on one side, and this game on the other?

Agh, I remember those two, they were in the Norwegian newspapers aswell (which is quite sheldom). Poor kids, I would’ve sent in an arrest order for their parents and some serious therapy for the kids. :S Zero tolerance policy for that kind of thing if you ask me. And that’s one game I’m definately not playing, like FPS games weren’t bad enough as they were? ;)

Motive Erin, motive. That’s what separates us from them. Saving the world from hostile alien takeover is quite different than shooting and killing people because they don’t have the same skin pigment that you do. Sure the violence may be the same or the “tactics” used to kill people or whatever, but their game is based on hate. They can sugar coat it all they want saying they’re proud or whatever it is they use to hide their hate, but that’s just what it is. Hate. We play our games not because we hate our enemies, (I just can’t get angry at clone soldiers following orders) but because we’re always trying to save the world or save something.

So can we place our favorite FPS games on one side and theirs on another?

    Absolutely.

Tor, I don’t see the game becoming all that popular with mainstream gamers, so have no fears about bands of roving racists prowling Norwegian neighbourhoods ;)

Pretty much my sentiments there Matt. I don’t know any game (maybe because it’s not my hobby to hunt them down) that is as obviously hate filled as this one. You could make an argument that some of the gangsta games are based on racist/classist hate, and that may be true, but at least there its inferred or indirect.

    That’s scary.

Almost as scary as me coming here and thinking we’d suddenly become an Olson Twins celeb blog. ;)

On the topic at hand, though, I concur with Matt. I think intent is key to drawing that line.

    No racial dominance for you!

[Side note: The other day I had the pleasure of explaining the soup nazi episode to Karine. I used your ‘No Xbox for you’ cap as an example. I did a poor job of expressing how funny the ep is…]

    LOL. Mary KKKate and Ashley.

They’ll probably grow up and have hung black boyfriends, but still think the way they do.

Jake, unless you’re also a minor and still in elementary school I fear for your very soul.

Johnny, bravo on the KKK tie in, gave me a good laugh. I can only imagine what these two will get involved in during their rebellious phase.

” What separates a racist killing game from any other FPS on the market?”

    Well DUH!!!

The Liberals in the gaming industry AMAZE me. They put out garbage like GTA, get their panties in a wad when conservative politicians complain about it, then have the witless audacity to hold themselves to be morally superior to the creators of games like Ethnic Cleansing.

    Liberals = Fucking Retards

Why do the play video games? WHY?
They make gamers everywhere look bad. Why can’t they work on recryogenically freezing Hitler or something?

Everyone in America thinks their freakin physchos

Got to agree with gaming8787. Games like GTA promote the killing of white people, so what’s the difference? a games a game after all, if its all fun for one sort why not the other? or is killing whites more acceptable than killing blacks? I’m not condoning either but fairs fair.

It’s probably the political statement behind ethnic cleansing that gets people all upset. I’m sure that’s what bugs me. If there’s a game where the plotline happens to be killing certain people groups because that’s what happens in that place and time that’s one thing…

But a modern day game set in a modern day city where modern day people kill certain groups purely because of their color on some mission to purify their race? That hasn’t happened… So it’s purely a statement, and one that’ll obviously piss people off because the sentiment behind it pisses them off.
