Brain-Controlled Gaming Headset from Emotiv

In somewhat terrifying news, the neuro-engineering company Emotiv has created a headset that reads brain signals and translates them into video game controls.
Consider this the anti-Wiimote. While one encourages you to get off your lazy bum and move around for a change, this gaming headset invites you to sit back and do nothing.
Basically, strap this baby onto your head and think away while the helmet tries to make sense of all that input and turn it into … something.
“It picks up electrical activity from the brain and sends wireless signals to a computer,” said Tan Le, president of US/Australian firm Emotiv.
“It allows the user to manipulate a game or virtual environment naturally and intuitively,” she added.
I’d love to see this in action, actually, ’cause it certainly sounds fascinating. However, is this the true future of video gaming? Because that’s somewhat depressing. Unless you happen to be paralyzed, in which case I think this is excellent.
The device goes on sale this year, and it can be yours for around £150 ($295 USD).
