Call of Duty 4 May Keep Pace with Halo 3

by Erin on November 12th, 2007

ImageAnd just who says that franchise games are dull, re-hashed, and unwanted by the gaming public? Not the current batch of hungry consumers, who have been snapping up Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 like hotcakes. H3 has hurdled the 4 million copy mark effortlessly, but it’s not the only game that’s expected to hit that mark in the near future.

Calling the title “in extremely high demand”, Nollenberger Capital Partners analyst Todd Greenwald commented on the rapid sell-outs and long waiting lists for the latest incarnation of the wartime franchise Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. A point for consideration, as mentioned by Greenwald, is the fact that CoD4 is available on a multitude of next-gen platforms, opening the door to psychotic action shooter fans such as myself, across a much larger consumer base than the 360-restricted Halo 3. Even considering the volume advantage, the numbers are impressive in a genre that is often criticized for producing stale carbon copies of previous titles; not everyone, it seems, has had their fill of first person shooters and multiplayer scrims.

call of duty 4 will eat halo 3 anyday. it dont stand a chance, yes halo has the higher population… for now. cod4 hasnt been out nearly as long as h3 has, but see the ratio of games bought per day with cod4 ismuch higher then halo 3 is. i bought call of duty 4 today and got a good few hours in. “its fucking amazing”, me, 2007.
