CSI: Hard Evidence
Love, love, love the CSI games. I can’t help it, I’m a forensic chemist by training and I love the campy horrid drama of the original series. Yes I know, the game graphics are sub-par, and yes I know, compared to a lot of the next-gen games out there this one looks like poo, despite what the Ubisoft folks say about their 3D graphics engine, but hey, I likes me some crime mystery and I like the fact that the game centers, to some extent, around your brain and not your gun.
The latest addition to the CSI video game family is CSI: Hard Evidence, slated for a September release and promising more high tech toys, more clever deduction and an action-packed good time I bought the original CSI game when it came out and found it clunky and generally unattractive although digging through the puzzles themselves was lots of fun. In watching the original trailer and the recently released “Shootout” trailer for Hard Evidence, I’m not seeing much improvement in the looks, so the actual story and chain of evidence better be damn good. If they could attempt to make things a little less point-and-click linear that would likely help my impression immensely, but I’m already sucked in by the voraciously strong CSI brand.
I’ll keep an eye out for this one come fall and keep my fingers crossed that it won’t be an embarrassment. Three trailers, including a making of, included under the cut.
