DS Lite Lands in America
I’ve been waiting and waiting to hear the details about the DS Lite release in North America ever since I got a free copy of Brain Age courtesy of Mr. Iwata at GDC. If I’m going to buy a DS just to play that game, well then I want my Lite. My funky colour slim compact DS Lite.
Kotaku has the goods on everything from price points (only $130!) to colour options (white, white, and white so far) to dates (June 11th). Considering that I have been perusing eBay for a steal on a DS Lite and not come up with prices as sweet as that, I’m tickled pink that retail price won’t make me poor.
If you’re not familiar with the Lite versions specs, the official Nintendo line is:
Nintendo DS Lite comes with a variety of distinctive changes that set it apart from the original – and from all other hand-held video game systems:
- It’s less than two-thirds the size of the original Nintendo DS and more than 20 percent lighter.
- Its two bright screens can be adjusted to four levels to adapt to different lighting conditions and to extend battery power.
- The microphone sits in the center of the unit, and the LED lights are clearly visible whether the unit is open or closed.
- The stylus is 1 centimeter longer and 1 millimeter thicker than the stylus of the original, and slides into a side storage slot.
- The Start and Select buttons were repositioned for easier access.
- A removable cover keeps the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot clear from dust and debris when it’s not in use.
Can’t wait to try out that new Mario game…ah nostalgia.

I LOVE NINTENDO! THEY ARE T3H c00l35t! lol, anyway, the DS Lite is going to be incredible. I suggest selling your old DS(if you have one) before the price goes down.
PS-cool website…
