EA Snags The Simpsons
The Simpsons have had about two dozen video game incarnations over the years and it was recently announced that EA has signed on to bring everyone’s favourite golden family to a console yet again. They’ve com to terms with Fox, who own the rights to the hugely popular animated show, that will allow them to pursue the production of several Simpsons games. No further details as to the types of game were given in the press release, though it appears that the task of bringing The Bartman to life has fallen into the hands of EA’s LA studio, which has worked on the Lord of the Rings: Tactics, Sims and From Russia With Love.
The first of the games will come out on next-gen consoles, but the date of their release is unknown. According to Nick Earl, the Vice President and General Manager of EA’s Redwood Shores Studio: “This is something EA’s been interested in for years and now game development and technology is at a place where THE SIMPSONS characters and world will really come alive in these games.”
