Fake PSP Unbricker

by Ingrid on October 25th, 2005

Someone by the name of “12step” posted to a forum that he had the software to unbrick any PSP, regardless of the reason or version. But Jeff Chen over at PSPupdates announced that it was a fake. After reading all the hype at the forum, and others’ cries that the software worked, he decided to try it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work:

…after I downloaded it and checked the Hex code… “4D 5A” for the first 2 bytes… I wondered when the PSP started to support Windows executables. You can also see the typical “This program cannot run in DOS mode.” I was curious and renamed it to .exe and… A winamp installer revealed its form.

We hope that one day a REAL unbricker will be done. But for now, don’t believe the hype.

Doh!
