Guild Wars: Factions Preview Event

The highly anticipated next chapter to the popular MMO Guild Wars is well on its way. The ArenaNet, NCsoft and Guild Wars teams have announced a Guild Wars: Factions Preview Event wherein current Guild Wars players can invite up to three of their friends to beta test the game for free using an in-game invitation interface.
The big day is on March 24th.
If you can’t find anyone to invite you but are interested in the game, you can always pre-order on February 28th and get a “friends” key that will allow you to participate in the preview.
For more info, see the Press Release.

I take it that by using the above picture they want lots of little boys to sign up? Or is that just a stock photo?
Here’s the funny thing; Software boxes, graphics card ads - they all show these rather enhanced looking girls. Why? If you buy the graphics card, you don’t get the girl on your screen or anything. If you buy the software, you don’t see girls like that in the game (or maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough).
What is the point?

Well when it comes to things like that some of the boys don’t think with their mind if you know what I mean. And that’s what they count on.

I cannot wait until Chapter 2 comes out. I’ve practically done all that there is to do in chapter 1. The two new classes that they added, Assassin and Ritualist, were a nice touch. And hopefully they kept the level cap at 20.

Cal, good point. I took a screencap of their main site backgrounds and cropped it down for that picture. But yes, the characters always look so much better in the promo pictures. Then you’re in-game and it’s like “God, my character’s fugly.”
But you know, sex sells and putting an attractive character on the box is going to probably help sales not hurt it, even if your actual character looks nothing like it.
It’s like movie boxes. I’ve seen a lot of movies that on the cover the characters are hot, and then in the movie, they look nothing like it.

Fugly = effin + ugly, right?
I say all us fangirls get together and create our own game, where all the male characters look like hot, sensitive, misunderstood young men, and all the women in the game are fugly and our character is the only one that looks hot.
I think that would really sell (I’d buy it x.x;;)
But yes, sex sells and they are pushing it on everything now. The better it looks on the outside, the better it sells. We are such a superficial world.

You’re correct on the fugly calculation, Renee :)
Okay, let’s make the game. Er … who knows how to make games here? Anyone? Bueller?

Lol, we might have to wing it a little. Or maybe we can just pitch the idea to a company that would make it, and let us do the consulting for it, lol.
And for being a part of the project, we’d get to beta test and get the first copies off the assembly line :P
