Harmonix To Make New Waves

by Erin on January 29th, 2007

Old news that I somehow missed in amongst my tidbits…Game developer Harmonix, the original guts behind the disturbingly addictive Guitar Hero franchise, has now confirmed that it is stepping back from the series to concentrate on a new music game project. The reins for Guitar Hero’s continuation now fall to developer Neversoft for the third incarnation, as publisher RedOctane attempts to take it in stride and keep on rockin’.

Harmonix producer Danial Sussman had the following to say about his company’s decision to break from the franchise that put their name on the map:

“We are instead working on a different music game project, one that is a bigger and more ambitious endeavor than we felt we could pursue within the bounds of the Guitar Hero franchise.”

I’m curious to see what they consider to be ‘bigger and more ambitious’. Symphony Hero? Grand Piano Hero?
