HDTV Wii Protection

by Erin on July 5th, 2007

This Wii-mote injury and damage thing is getting way out of hand…WAY out of hand (pardon the pun). The busting straps and flinging controllers have resulted in damage to the surrounding environment, including fellow gamers and very expensive home entertainment systems, and the rapid flailing adopted by some player has caused personal injuries such as sprained wrists and broken fingers. The fact that these occurances are so common makes me marvel that humanity has lasted as long as it has, but the fact that people are capitalizing on our own clumsiness and stupidity makes me snicker at consumerism. It’s a fantastic thing.

You can now buy an impact-resistant Safety Shield for your spiffy new HDTV that apparently protects your screen from cuts and dings resulting from the undignified accidental tosses of random gaming equipment. Not only that, but it also reduces UV, while still providing a crystal clear HD picture. The Safety Shield is being manufactured by the company LCDArm out of Taiwan.

Yowza, that could be really useful. Especially when you’re playing a very frustrating game. I hope they also come out with a shock-proof casing for Wiimotes.
