July Poll: Is Your Console Multimedia?

As promised, a brand new gaming-centered poll for the month of July. This month’s question was inspired by the post on The Diffusion Group’s findings that gaming consoles aren’t really being used as multimedia centers by their owners. I’m curious to see if similar trends exist among Play-Girlz.com readers whom I’m going to take the liberty of calling more technologically savvy then randomly surveyed households. Have you ever used your console for movie viewing?

I’ll be the first to say that I have never, ever watched a movie on any of the systems I’ve ever owned. It’s probably a function of still being trapped by the multiple gadget mode of the previous decade, where you needed separate pieces of equipment to do separate things. Now, with multi-functional toys like the iPhone (which does everything but cook for you), the 360 and the PS3, I bet the next generation of consumers will be more likely to use all available functionality. Us old folks just ain’t used to it.
