Lord of the Rings Online Coming in April?

by Ingrid on January 25th, 2007

The rumor mill has awakened recently due to a “tip” from an “industry ninja” who claims Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar will be hitting the shelves on April 24th. According to said tip, pre-orders should start today (January 25th).

Now, a quick hop over to Amazon.com confirms nothing, as all they have available for pre-order is the official guide (which would be an entertaining read before the game is even released).

However, Gameplanet Store in New Zealand seems to be taking pre-orders for the Collectors Edition with a delivery date of April 26th.

Perhaps the April 24th date could be accurate?

Hehe, I sure hope not.. I’m in the beta, and let’s just say there’s a LOT of things they have to fix by April :P

Industry ninjas are crafty devils. You never know what they say is truth or mis information. Beware the live ones!

Aye, the 24th of April has been confirmed as the launch date by both Midway (US) and CodeMasters (Europe).

Tor - you sound like you’ve never experienced a beta test before. I don’t know how bad the LotRO beta is, but it can hardly be any worse than Lineage, RF Online, Vanguard & World of Warcraft were when they were released.
Three months is A LOT of time, especially when the developers are working towards release. That time should be plenty to fix the vast majority of bugs, add some new content - and get LotRO out the door in better shape than the before mentioned games.
If you had beta testing experience, then you’d know that nearly every MMORPG hits the shelves with a boatload of bugs and a fair few promised features missing. Heck, even World of Warcraft still doesn’t have all the features that were promised to be in the initial retail version!
