Microsoft Takes Up Origami
Before you start questioning Gates’ sanity, I am not talking about the intricate art of paper folding. Those swans are beyond his capabilities. I myself, make a mean ninja star…..but I digress.
Microsoft has finally owned up to its involvement in a supah sekrit project called Origami, which has been floating around on its virally mysterious official page (Touch you? I think not.) The vague and feigned cleverness of the site should have been the first indicator that MS was involved, following in the footsteps of other well loved campaigns such as the Origen bunnies and 168.
A video was recently released showing the Origami smartly displaying all kinds of digital media, travelling around happily in a tote bag, and bleaming with the same sort of white purity that has made the iPod and 360 cultural icons of coolness.
Annnnnd, it’s as big as a bloody laptop. Is it impressive? Oh yes. But it looks like little more than an oversized iPod redesign of a computer (kind of like the 360 is little more than a slimmed down CPU). Don’t call it a handheld. The GBA is a handheld. This thing is a tablet, and a very nifty one at that.

This thing looks like a giant PDA. It does look pretty neat, but I don’t know. Can you make a ninja star out of it?
And while we’re on the subject of origami…
There’s these two guys that do naked origami with their bodies. I saw the DVD at Barnes & Noble (of all places) but I didn’t buy it.
Really.
I didn’t.

I must be the only idiot around that watches this video and has no clue what the thing is supposed to do. and since the video was too long and I didn’t like the music (oh and it’s made by die! Microsoft), Ive come to a very important conclusion :
no me gusta.
