Mixed Reality Chronicled at Second Life Blog

If you’re as interested in tracking the insane growth of real life companies developing online entities in Second Life, creating “mixed reality” enterprises, then there’s a weekly post tothe New World Notes blog that you should really check out.
NWN contributor Tateru Nino has a look at 10 real world companies/organizations/associations that are making in-roads into Second Life. Every week means new and interesting discoveries, as well as detailing the interactivity, staffing, and overall quality of the sites.
Here’s what Tateru had to say about the Wired Magazine offering:
“Frankly, completely disappointing. The build is attractive and colorful, with offices and cubicles, and a small stage build onto and into a giant motherboard, and.. that’s it. The most interactive item is the foyer door. It reminds me of a resident’s home, only less interesting. There are a scattering of posters of magazine covers, but they don’t even link to the website. This looks like a space primarily intended to impress invited guests and press - like it might be used for something, but everyone’s gone for a long lunch. It feels like a 3D banner ad - that you can’t click on.”
Not all the selected spots are duds, and you may find that some of your favourite pastimes, hobbies, and guilty pleasures have a Second Life presence that you didn’t even know about. Definitely worth a weekly read.
