OMG liek GameØRZ Week @ MTV

No, this is not a lie, though I wish it were…the week of November 20th is officially GameØRZ Week (OMG MTV 5p34K5 |_337? RoXxØrS!) at MTV.
Somebody save me.
Not since I was forced to sit through an interview with the Olsen twins have I been so terrified of MTV and its web of totally hip, cool, and |_337 incarnations. I don’t even consider myself to be an incredibly hardcore gamer, and yet the though of any of those grinning apes at MTV trying to give me the down-low on what’s hot in the gaming world…I can’t bear it. I even went over to the site, but before I could get a grip on what exactly GameØRZ Week was, I experienced severe heart palpitations as a result of all the spinning, blinking, and brightly coloured graphics. I feel like I need a dose of Ritalin.
No doubt the entire week will feel like one very bad acid trip, with MTV promising “an Unprecedented Multiplatform Assault of Video Game Related Programming”. You, as a hardcore gamer, will be able to watch the Cyberathlete Professional League World Tour Finals, ooo and ahhh over the XBox 360 launch on the 22nd when MTV takes for for a little tour of what the White Box can do, follow several contestants as they craft bizarre submissions for the XBOX 360 Hex168 contest, or check out what Sims players look like in real life (scared? You should be). So basically, MTV is unleashing more of its patented reality tv crap, with a gaming spin, and throwing in the CPL to have a slight smattering of authority. Give me a break.

I’m totally with you on this one Erin. Haha, I had to scroll up to make sure it was actually you who had posted the article. Anyways, this kind of thing makes me sick. I feel totally embarrassed by it and when there are people at work who ask me about games and stuff and they see this sort of thing and think it’s the norm for gamers, I weep for us all. I guess they’re trying to pick up on the SpikeTV VGA(Video Game Awards) I bet they think they’re so clever getting a double acronymn in on that one. Or if they even noticed. I’m all for games getting more publicity, I just wish it didn’t have to come this way. I feel like such a tool when I see advertisements for these things.

You’re funny when you’re all snarky :)

Karine are you giving me license to be more snarky all the time? Because that would be sweet.
Matt, it is embarrassing, and it gives gamers who aren’t out for their 15 minutes of fame a really bad name. When I tell people I write a gaming blog, you should see the looks I get, it’s like I’ve announced I have the world’s worst case of festering boils. Having MTV gamers do stupid things on camera certainly isn’t going to help that.
