PlayStation 3 Spikes Video Game Sales in Australia

During the first ten days of its Australian release, the PS3 hit the 27,000 consoles sold mark. A pretty impressive number. The console’s popularity didn’t end there. Nine out of ten games sold were for the PS3.
“Our data revealed that in a matter of just ten days the PlayStation 3 created a spike in retail spending not previously witnessed at the launch of any other console in Australia,” commented GfK’s (a data tracker) Daniel Morse.
“This spending continued into the second week of trading, resulting in sales of 27,083 PlayStation 3 consoles in just ten days.”
A nice economy boost for Australia, it seems. And I bet Sony Australia is dancing all around. Guess the Australians didn’t have any problems dropping all that cash on the console.
Notably, the PS2 is still making waves, as well. Eight thousand consoles flew off the shelves in just eight days. Impressive.
