Portugal Wins (Xbox) FIFA World Cup

by Ingrid on July 3rd, 2006

While the real World Cup goes on, Portugal has ensured at least one World Cup victory: EA’s 2006 FIFA World Cup Xbox Live competition. The team got their trophy from Peter Moore himself at the Adidas Stadium in Berlin.

Mexico came close, but not close enough. Portugal sealed the game with a 2-1 victory. The Portuguese team was made up of Miguel Angelo Dinis and Antonio Luis Ferreira Gomes.

“It was my honour to present these guys with their well deserved prize,” said Peter Moore. “The atmosphere today was absolutely phenomenal - truly the beautiful game at its best. It’s been a great tournament and the first of its kind on a next generation high definition console. Seeing the matches being played out on the Xbox 360 has been nearly as good as watching a real football match!”
