Princess Bride To Find Video Ending?
The Hollywood Reporter…er, reports that a video game version of 1987’s timelessly popular The Princess Bride is in the works by WorldWide Biggies for release sometime in 2008. Apparently the game will be designed to appeal to casual audiences and will be available in digital form only upon release.
This is one of those “don’t know whether to cheer or cry” moments for me. The Princess Bride one of those iconic movies of childhood that I watch every now and again when I’m feeling nostalgic. The release of the 20th anniversary DVD on November 13th is fantastic, as it falls just in time for some thoughtful reader/family member/complete-and-utter stranger to buy it for me for Christmas.
The accompanying news of an official Princess Bride game is a little less black-and-white in the joy department. Just like some games should never be made into movies (Super Mario, I’m looking at you), some movies should be left in their silver screen perfection, untouched by the pixel-obsessed minds and irratically logical processes of video games. Particularly when they’re piggy-backing on a release or re-release of the big screen version. Franchising is all fine and well, but sometimes quality is negatively impacted and the whole thing goes to sh*t.

I saw something about this a while ago. I can’t believe their doing it. The gaming industry is certainly running out of ideas.
