PS2 Now $129

Sony has dropped the price of the PlayStation 2 to $129, after telling us they had no plans to drop it. Of course, a drop in price is never a bad thing (for consumers) and I can think of a lot of things I could do with the extra $20. Or I would, if I didn’t already have a PS2.
With the PS3’s launch looming in the horizon (far, far horizon), what will become of the PS2? SCEA president and CEO Kaz Hirai says that, “While we continue to innovate and design groundbreaking new products, we remain dedicated to our long-term vision for the PlayStation 2 platform. Now even more consumers, as well as casual gamers, can experience what the PlayStation 2 platform has to offer.”
They say that, but do they really mean it? Will we even care about the PS2 once the PS3 is sitting proudly by our TV?
Regardless, Sony does plan to advertise the PS2’s brand spankin’ new price by any media means necesssary so look for the adverts to pop up on and around April 27th.
