Red Ring-of-Death Whistleblower Canned

Twenty-nine year old Robert Delaware did something that few would dare to even contemplate…he broke a non-disclosure agreement with Microsoft, because “[i]t was the moral thing to do.”

The Xbox 360 tester spoke candidly in a piece for interview with VentureBeat, saying that he felt that the issue was known by Microsoft at the time of the console’s launch As a result, he was not only fired from his position, but now also faces potential civil litigation from the sue-happy Microsoft legal team.

Although Delaware’s accusations are interesting, some of the figures quotes in the rest of the article, such as a 68% failure rate on the line during early manufacture, and an abysmal 84% failure rate on IBM’s chip, are both frightening and fascinating as an indicator of the pressures on a company in a consumerist, highly competitive industry.
