Russian Gamers Confuse Lineage II With Clockwork Orange

Some people have more trouble distinguishing virtual from reality than others. Take, for prime example, two groups of Russian gamers who spent their time rampaging and conquering in Lineage II. The Coo-clocks, angsty student-types, and the Platanium, jaded old hands in the gaming world, had a fierce in-world rivalry and spent every spare moment trying to wipe each other off the face of the servers. One day, late last year, the Platanium clan killed a Coo-clock during a particularly nasty battle and the grudge grew ever larger

In a fit of questionable judgement, the two clans soon agreed to meet in person in the Russian city of Ufa and their face-to-face parlay soon ended in violent death as 33-year old Platanium member Albert was badly beaten and died before he could reach a hospital. The fight doesn’t end there either… apparently the Coo-clocks aren’t satisfied with having bludgeoned a man to death…they’re also eyeing Albert’s family. Says his sister Albina:

“I think they have confused the game and reality. And after we buried him on December 31, they continued to threaten us.”

The 22 year-old student charged with the murder seemed to think that all was fair in war and games and hasn’t shown an ounce of remorse.

What a world we live in!
