Show Your Stripes: Custom Console Skins
Just like bling for your cell phone is now an accessory that few can live without, the need to modify (read here: make hideous) personal electronics of all kinds has continued to spread its disease into the gaming world. It all started last year, innocently enough, with official XBox 360 faceplates in various designs, but quickly spread into the realms of the ridiculous with Louis Vuitton (and other similar delights) festooned hardware.
It turns out that DecalGirl, who brought us some of the first widely available graphic mods for the 360, has been a very busy young lady, and is now offering Wii and PS3 skins to all the kool kats out there. Some, like the retro Nintendo skin for the Wii, are nifty, but I do have to wonder if the average sticker application ever turns out as clean cut as the demo, and if the marketing photos serve to make the stickers look less like stickers by hiding obvious seams and making things glossy-purdy.
I dug up one for Ingrid (left) and one for myself:

I’d ask “why?”, but somehow even I know that rates as a stupid question :)
