SNES Leads Console Poll
Well, it looks like SNES is the winner of the “All Time Favorite Console” poll with a whopping 10 votes. What’s interesting is the fact that opinions are entirely widespread among all of these consoles and gaming devices, which leads me to believe there’s really no clear-cut winner.
Still, since SNES does have the leading majority, I must ask the questions: Why? What was it about SNES that makes it a favorite among so many? Especially in light of so many bigger and “better” consoles, improved graphics, supposedly more compelling gaming plots?
Why SNES?
Don’t get me wrong, that’s what I would’ve voted for as well, had I actually voted to my own poll. My answer is: I loved those SNES games. Sure the graphics weren’t all 3D and complicated, and most games were Plots What Plots, but they were fun. Something a lot of games these days - for all of their 3D-ness and movie-like intros - lack.
Not all of them, of course, don’t get me wrong. I just find it interesting that after all of these years, the SNES continues to hold the hearts of so many. Yes, all 10 of you. Eleven if you count me.

pssst…the PC isn’t a console.
I think the SNES is the favorite because it’s the console most of us grew up with. Sure there was the NES and we still have fond memories of that, but there were so many games for the SNES that just took our hearts and hours away from us.

I don’t think I can ever forget super Mario and the FF games to SNES, they’re just… priceless.

I voted for SNES. There is one reason I love it cos I can insert my UFO into SNES and just put disks into it (each disk cost under US$1) and load the games. Not to mention selling them to my friends.
It was such an enterprsing solution during my high school days.
Furthermore, the RPG titles on SNES were awesome such as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire…
And one thing, it was durable. I dropped the machine on the floor more than 20 times over the year and it still runs like NEW.
