So many games, so little time…

by Ingrid on September 20th, 2005

If you’re a fan of the MMORPG genre (as I am), then undoubtedly you know all about the long awaited sequel to City of Heroes: City of Villains. I’ve been waiting for the game since it was first announced many months ago, having been a fan of CoH. Though, admittedly, I dropped the latter like a hot potato the second open beta for WoW was announced (there’s only so many hours in the day).

Still, I find myself missing my old CoH toon. On occasions I turn to real-life, non-gamer people - at odd, inopportune moments, like in public bathrooms - and say things like, “I really do miss my cape. And flying. I really miss flying. It’s just not the same on a hypogriff, you know?”

But I’ve been holding out on returning to CoH for the simple reason that I’m much more interested in being a villain. Hm, I wonder what that says about me…

Let’s not dwell on that, no.

According to the main City of Villains website, the game will be released “within the year” which is charmingly vague. But closed beta for the game will be starting soonish. Their August 2005 target seems to have come and gone, but that’s to be expected with these kinds of things. I remember refreshing the WoW site over an over waiting for them to announce their open beta …

I do have a life, really.

But you can mosey on over to the beta test page to find out how you can join in the fun.

Meanwhile, I’ll be contemplating some decorative ideas for my Top Secret Evil Lair of Doom. I wonder what Martha Stewart’s looks like…
