The Dark Portal Opens! Are you In It?
The Burning Crusade has officially launched (at long last), and all across America and the world, players rushed off at midnight to grab their copies. My parents were amongst these anxious players (though they don’t play WoW), and they emailed me to say that they were back in the car, Burning Crusade copies in hand, by 12:04. Naturally, I had insisted they pre-order.
I’m glad for this, because copies of TBC have been flying off the shelves and players have been sent home, empty-handed.
I logged in to WoW earlier and caught sight of a Draenei player jumping around Stormwind. A cluster of Humans and Gnomes and Night Elves formed a ring around him, and they all stared in awe and amazement (and envy).
My guildie, having been amongst those at the stores at midnight, was already 75% to 61 when I last spoke to him. I imagine he’s already 61.
Another guildie lamented the fact that he didn’t pre-order, as the game appears to have been sold out everywhere.
Me? I am sitting here watching the downloading bar of my FTP client climb steadily upwards. My father spent all night making sure I could have the game ASAP and has been uploading the files for me. It’s going to be a long day of waiting, but I’m entirely too grateful to mind!
It gives me time to contemplate the important things: Do I roll a Blood Elf first? Or do I venture into the Dark Portal?
Decisions, decisions.
If you’re getting the expansion, what do you plan to do first?

LOL You should’ve been the first to 70, Chewy. Alas, you’ve been beaten by the French.

[…] I really wasn’t kidding when I said people formed rings around the new races to oooh and aaah. This is, admittedly, a bad picture, but at the center of it all, you can see my new guildie Azameth (hi Azameth) dancing the night away, and a couple of guys that were running by just stopped to stare and ask questions about the expansion.
