The People vs. The Governator

by Ingrid on October 18th, 2005

So, we all know (unless you didn’t know, in which case, hey, guess what?) Mr. Terminator himself has signed a bill that makes it illegal for minors to rent or buy explicit video games of a sexual or violent nature. Well, it looks like no one is going to take that sitting down. The ESA (Entertainment Software Association) and the Video Software Dealers Association are suing the state of California saying that it’s not up to the government to decide what “kids can see or do.”

The Governator, however, is pretty staunch about his law thingie, and says (don’t forget to include the accent in your mind’s reading voice):

I will do everything in my power to preserve this new law and I urge the attorney general to mount a vigorous defense of California’s ability to prevent the sale of these games to children.

Fun times ahead. I really think they should let Judge Judy decide, because … well, she amuses me.

Meanwhile, expect this to go on and on and on…
