Thompson Tries To Subpoena Dubya

by Erin on September 11th, 2007

Apparently an inflated sense of self-worth accompanies paranoia and raving evangelicalist tendencies in the case of perennial laughing stock, and professional justice system time waster, Jack Thompson.

Citing them as “highly relevant to my Bar defense”, Thompson has filed subpoenas with the federal court in Florida for the President of the United States, George W. Bush, and his brother Jeb for his upcoming ethics trial relating to his game industry harrassing.

Thompson is due to go on trial for these complaints launched by the Florida Bar in front of a court appointed referee. He has, in true Jack fashion, spun around and begun firing off lawsuits with reckless abandon, against that very referee, the entire Florida Supreme Court and, naturally, the Florida Bar.

GamePolitics tries to tease out the relevance of the President’s subpoena, settling for:

“…the linkage - at least in Thompson’s mind - seems to be that the Blank Rome law firm represents video game industry defendants in Strickland vs. Sony, an Alabama lawsuit alleging that an 18-year-old was acting under the influence of Grand Theft Auto when he killed two police officers and a police dispatcher in 2004. And Blank Rome - or at least some of its partners - are also lobbyists as well as heavyweight Republican donors.”

The GamePolitics post contains links to the history of the dispute, which they have been diligently covering since day one, so if you’re interested, head over there to get all the gory details.
