Ultima Online To Get Facelift With EA Mythic?
Following in the wake of the announcement that Mythic Entertainment, developer behind MMO’s like Dark Age of Camelot and the upcoming Warhammer Online, has been swallowed up into the gaping maw of the Electronic Arts conglomerate, it’s not exactly surprising to learn that EA has their finger in the pie already. The acquisition of Mythic gives them a further foot into the MMO market by way of an already established and respected company.
Mythic, which celebrated its tenth anniversary last fall, has been redubbed EA Mythic and looks to have been directed to work with the Ultima Online crew. New blood, new life, new massively massive UO? Could just be, but neither Mythic nor Ultima Online has been commenting much beyond a nugget dropped on the UO front page.
I’m thrilled that the UO team and Mythic will work together to forge Britannia’s future…There is much to talk about with our new partners, and it will take some time to review and finalize our plans. Because we need to take that time, we are postponing the announcement that we were going to make this week.
The wires are abuzz with rumours that an uber-UO will hit development tables and EA will try its best to bash WoW over the head with the new project.
