US Army To Recruit Via Games

In an effort to boost recruitment numbers, the US Army has charged off in a new direction, looking to the frequenters of online wars as fertile fields for the picking. The armed forces branch will be sponsoring a channel at the Global Gaming League (GGL) site, a haven for multiplayer FPS players.
Looking to “bond with gamers and meet them on their turf”, according to Anders Ekman of McCann World Group, the army will develop an FPS game based on their training manual and place it as the showcase attraction in their sponsored channel. Indie games in a similar vein will also be available.
Players wanting to take a shot at the new game will have to agree to put up with “additional contact from the army” (aka recruiters), who are looking to capitalize on the prime, youthful demographic of 17 to 24-year olds.
