Uwe To Go Postal.

If you’re looking to convert a video game into a successful movie, I think the last person that any self-respecting gamer would possibly approach for direction is director/punching bag Uwe Boll. The creator of such game-to-movie “greats” as Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, the soon to be released Bloodrayne and upcoming Dungeon Siege, was rumoured to be the headman for the Halo movie as well, before Microsoft got a brain and hired Peter Jackson instead.
But if you’re Running with Scissors developers, I suppose any exposure is good exposure, even if your name gets attached to every flamy post this side of Dodge. The game, which is about as complex and thought-provoking as a pile of dirt, should be excellent fodder for Boll to work his craptacular magic. The game premise is that after coming home from your hard-working job as a postal employee, you find your house repossessed and decide to go on a shooting spree to protest. Due to the obvious anti-postman conspiracy you think that anyone and everyone is out to get you, including unarmed old ladies, whom you can kill with a dozen different weapons.
I’m not saying it’s a bad game, not at all, because violent, pointless games are pretty much a mainstay in the industry these days, but as a movie? Why on earth anyone would tag this game for a movie deal is beyond me, and perhaps its the flop factor that made Running with Scissors feel that Boll is “the perfect producer-director to make POSTAL.”
Says the official website, GoPOSTAL:
The man behind the camera, Hollywood outsider Uwe Boll ranks POSTAL as his personal, all-time favorite video game. “I see it like a mirror for our society — funny, violent, absurd!” he declared. “So then the movie must be powerful, strange, and so full of the game’s political incorrect outrageousness that if we do it correct, we will all probably end up in jail!
Oh please. That would be perfect! It would seriously hamper his efforts to make more movies. He’s an outsider for a reason. An added bonus, just in case you weren’t completely sold on this blockbuster’s potential - Gary Coleman will apparently star as himself. Yes…
2 opinions for Uwe To Go Postal.
