Video Game Law, Get The Latest
If you’re at all like me, you see state names tossed around with Jack Thompson thrown in, legislative coding, Hillary Clinton, babble babble, blah blah, and before you know it, the entire subject of video game law becomes a convoluted mess. I can never keep track of what the latest score is and where things stand due, mostly to lack of interest, but also to the sheer volume of tidbits that filter out of policy lobbier mouths.
The Video Game Law Blog, updated by law firm Davis & Company LLC, has helped me to gain my footing in the topsy-turvy world where gaming and politics collide. They have an index, organized by date, of all the major happenings from 1981 to the present. What I find amusing is that beside each of the date ranges, there is a post total for that time period. From 1981 to 2004, there was an average of about 1 worthwhile story per six months to report on, but following on the heels of the Hot Coffee scandal, the numbers jump into the dozens range right up to the present day.
The site covers everything from piracy and copyright concerns to criminal offences and is a nice aggregate of past new items, as well as a frequently updated catalogue of current events. Hopefully it’s also a little more reliable than some sources.
