Video Game Stars Land Sponsorship Deals
Major League Gaming has recently signed its five top players to exclusive contracts spanning from $250,000 a year to $1 million for three years. Sponsorship came from Boost Mobile and Red Bull.
Aside from the money, the players will be promoted through interviews and online footage available through the MLG’s website and through Boost Mobile phones.
Not a bad gig if you can get it.
“Any pro league is ultimately about its stars, it’s about who are the stars of the league,” said the league’s President and Chief Operating Officer Matthew Bromberg. “What we’re really trying to do is create a new generation of professional video gamers that everybody in the world is going to know about.”
