Wii Don’t Get It
It’s just too easy to make fun of Wii. Wii’ve already done it, and so has the whole world.
In written form, Wii looks kind of interesting, almost intriguing. But what about out there in the real world? What is it going to sound like?
You go to buy the Wii…
You: I need a Wii
Store person: That’s nice. Bathrooms are by the food court.
With friends….
You: Are you getting the Wii?
Friend: The weed?
You: Wii
Friend: We who?
You: Yes it is pretty exciting.
What will come after the Wii? The Poo?
The Uus?
The Deii?
Okay, I’m done. It’s too easy. Wii wiil stop now…

It’s funny that all of the video game websites are going crazy over this whole Wii deal. You gotta understand, the name change wasn’t done for the hardcore. Hardcore gamers most likely won’t care. But Grandma does.
People go into game stores all of the time asking for GameStation and PlayBox and other permutations of the various consoles. But no one, not even Grandma, is gonna get Wii confused with Playstation 360. Not to mention, maybe she’ll even pick up a Wii and a copy of Brain Training that she can play with her nursing home neighbors.

Actually Drew, my initial reaction might have been a bit misleading…I have no problems with quirky, touchy-feely ‘make gaming more accessible’ names. I agree that Wii will be easier for some to approach than something called the Xbox 1080.
It’s this particular name that I’m not yet sure I like. As Ingrid points out in her uniquely charming way…how do you tell someone “yeah I got my Wii today”, or “I’m so excited about Wii!”, or “Wow, my Wii rocks”….it just…sounds stupid.
Thing is I want a Revolution, I want the controller, I want a stir fry game, and of the three next gen consoles, it’s honestly the one I’m most intrigued by…but Wii?

That looks like a band name or another creative name for call of nature man.
