Wii In 30% Of US Household By 2011
The market analysts at Merrill Lynch have had a look at the current buying climate in the video game industry and predict that as high as 30% of all households in the U.S. will own a Wii console by the year 2011. The numbers are even higher for Japan, where it is thought that a third of all Japanese homes will take the plunge.
The predictions feed off the strong January sales for the system (436,000 units), and the besting of both of its rivals. With a 68% next-gen market share in Japan, and continually surprising sales, Wii is beginning to shrug off the notion that it was another R.O.B.
