Wii News: Nintendo Releases Safety Information
If you’ve been keeping up with the amusing (I mean, tragic) stories over at Wii Have a Problem, then by now you’re aware that soreness is not the only problem with the Wii. The breaking of windows, monitors, and other things is actually the Big Problem.
Nintendo has now released a Safety Information guide for the safe use of the Wii console.
Step 2 of the safety instructions say “Hold the Wii Remote firmly and do not let go,” because apparently the strap it comes with is useless.

So, go read the instructions, have fun, and try not to break anything. The Wii should come with a warning: Should only be played in the middle of an open field by Olympic athletes. Heh.

Hehe. Penny-Arcade did an amusing comic on it as well.

No, apparently you’ve never used one. The strap works quite well. It’s the morons using it that are the bigger problem.

Moriah: Honestly, I think the breaking of stuff with the Wii is mainly User Error. I think if your palms are sweaty enough that a controller would slip out of your hand, it’s time to wipe your hands on a towel.
Plus, I don’t really see how the straps can “fail” like people keep claiming, unless they haven’t been tightened properly? I haven’t used one yet, no, ’cause it’s not out in France yet, so I don’t really know.
