Wii, Wii, Wii

So, it seems both Erin and I were Internet-less when the news of the Wii launch hit the news waves (dang it), but if you’ve not heard it yet (and I can’t see how you haven’t) the Wii will be launching November 19th in the US, and December 8th for Japan and me (Europe).
BusinessWeek Online has written an article regarding the Wii in relation to the PS3 and the Xbox360, which basically boils down to what we already know: The Wii is not meant to be the be all end all of “next-gen” consoles, but rather a practical (and affordable) alternative to those without the ‘must-have-power-console’ mentality.
An interesting point they make is regarding non-gamers getting seduced by the Wii. I think if there’s any console that can turn non-gamers into gamers, the Wii is probably it.
BusinessWeek akins it to World of Warcraft, and I find that a very wise comparison. WoW is the kind of game that lures people in, whether they’re hardcore gamers or non-gamers (I’ve seen it happen!). I think the Wii could be its console counterpart.
Certainly, I don’t see the PS3 being that console.
What do you think?
