Wii Will Cost No More Than $250
While there’s no confirmed price for the Wii yet, Nintendo has stated that the console will fall somewhere below the $250 mark. That’s less than half of what the PS3 is slated to cost at its cheapest value ($499).
Yasuhiro Minagawa, spokesman for Nintendo Co., the Japanese video game maker of Pokemon and Super Mario games, said Friday that speculation had been rising that the machine may be quite expensive because of the price announced for PlayStation 3.
“Our offerings are always affordable,” Minagawa said by telephone from Kyoto.
And affordability kicks ass any time of the day. I’m sure that the PS3 is going to be a glorious piece of machinery, but I can’t even begin to afford a $499 console. The Xbox 360 is still out of my budget. The Wii, on the other hand, is going to look really nice next to my PS2.
