Will Wright’s Spore Infectious

I like different games. Weird games that frustrate me because of their utter lack of cookie cutter controls/design/gameplay. A while back there was a lot of attention paid to, of all things, an upcoming EA publish called Spore.
The pet project of Sims designer Will Wright, this title boasts the potentially enormous addition of making user created content an integral part of the experience.
Via Wonderland, I came across a lengthy video demo of the game. I watched the entire 35 minutes of this video, and it appeals to the biologist in my little science-y heart, while also astounding the gamer in me. In short, I want to have this game’s babies. It is absolutely amazing how many different styles and options and behaviours that are shown in this little demo. 2D, 3D, genre-crossing, technologically sweet, and inventive, Spore is going to be fantastic. Wright has drawn in influences from classic games, and mashed them in with elements of his Sims design.
