WoW & Counter Strike Go Retro…Waaay Retro

We all remember them, those simple little LCD games that occupied so much of our time on family trips, at family gatherings, and basically at any family event where we were eager to hide from Aunt Marge’s cheek pinching attentions.
Spencer over at Siliconera has proof that not only do they still exist, but they’re actually progressing! He found LCD bundles that included popular titles along with what I assume to be a baseball game, called Strike The Bat. I don’t know if they put heavy-hitters (unlicensed heavy hitters at that) like World of Warcraft and Counterstrike in with Strike The Bat for consumer relevance stake, but they certainly have more pull than a BBall knockoff. I can’t even begin to fathom how awful the little blip-blip blue-grey figures must look for these well loved games. Your Tauren druid would end up looking like a big blob of raging bull…
I don’t ever remember having a cartridge based LCD system myself. Mine were always single game purchases so that by the end of my adolescence I had a pile of useless plastic in a corner of my closet. Needless to say I very soon after saved up and bought my first portable system: the original GameBoy from Nintendo. I was on cloud nine!
I have no idea how LCDs are even managing to stay afloat in todays marketplace, even with big title rip offs like WoW in package deals. Does anyone still buy these things?
