WoW, I’m Rich! or Why I love the Auction House

The Auction House in World of Warcraft has been my new addiction for a few weeks now. I used to never go to the AH in my WoW beginnings because going to Ironforge was entirely too frustrating (laaaaag). But ever since the geniuses at Blizzard decided to implement linked auction houses, and even start one in Darnassus, my life has never been the same.
When I (re)started the game a few weeks ago, my main character, Exhile, was level 33 and had about 15 gold in her pocket. If you don’t play WoW (and why don’t you?) then you should know that gold is good. Gold buys you great things. Everything in WoW costs money. Sending mail costs money, training on powers costs money, training in professions costs money, buying things for your profession costs money, traveling costs money. So, having money is not only convenient, it’s pretty much imperative.
So when I rolled a new character, Aelora (now level 21), I knew I’d need to dig into Exhile’s pockets a little bit so I could get the best out of my game play. I had Exhile mail over some money. And Matt was nice enough to give me some gold, too. I blew most of the money at the auction house buying herbs for my potions so I could get my alchemy profession up to a healthy level. I figured I’d just sell my potions at the auction house and live off of that.
Problem being, not that many of my potion auctions were selling. I was spending more money making the potions than I was earning in selling them.
So I went a different route. I decided to play with Exhile at level 33, and send the stuff that dropped from the baddies to Aelora to auction off. That worked like a charm. Soon my money count was rising. And since I was such a low level, I wasn’t spending all that much in relation to how much I was earning.
I’m currently at 90 gold with Aelora and 30 gold with Exhile. And my new toon, Faedyn (level 10) now has 5 gold.
I shan’t reveal my secrets. Matt made fun of me because I admitted I have a spreadsheet (I like to keep track of items and the prices they sell at). He can laugh all he wants, but I’m now richer than his level 48 (or is it 49?) character.
Muahahaha…
