WoW Movie in 2009
Wow, not WoW, just wow, the usual expression of amazement. It’s been almost two years since Ingrid first posted about the possibility of a World of Warcraft movie and we’re still only at the “details surface” stage in the game. I figure after another two years we might actually have an inkling of a cast, just in time for release. With a budget of about $100m and 2009 as a target, Legendary Pictures will have some big boots to fill considering their CEOs determination to create “not a video game movie”, but something with the awesome grandeur of a Lord of the Rings, and the appeal of the company’s recent hit, 300.
They better get a move on, seeing that rumours of a (fake) Chinese movie (via Kotaku) have been floating about since early 2006.
The movie will be set one year before World of Warcraft in the Warcraft time line, but will attempt to have a storyline that appeals to the millions of WoW fans around the globe. Downside? The film will have a decidedly Alliance-oriented perspective, so sorry to all you Hordesters out there.
