Wow Patch 2.0 PvP Honor System: My New Crack
I have been drooling over the epic mage PvP armor in Wow for a while, while quietly lamenting the fact that I’d probably never get it. I love PvP but waiting a week for ranks to be updated, desperately trying to estimate the amount of honor gained per AB/WSG win/loss (usually loss since I play Alliance), and trying not to go too long without logging into a battleground in fear that my rank would suffer, was more trouble than it was worth (for me).
I hit level 60 a while ago (that being relative, of course, considering I’ve owned the game since release day and only managed to hit 60 a few months ago - though it’s mainly due to my wanting to level up several characters at once), and only got back into PvP this past weekend.
One trip into the Champions’ Hall to see the lovely goodies that could be mine for only x much honor and x many AB/AV/WSG marks of honor, and I was hooked.
I spent most of my weekend (while still managing to go outside) shooting fireballs at the Horde and having a glorious time dreaming about my epic gear.
I do lament the fact that I never got the title of Knight, for it is sexy and I would’ve liked to see it displayed by my name. That would be my one complaint about the new honor system. Why not let us advance in rank titles, even if they don’t mean anything anymore? Let us “buy” the titles, even.
Other than that, I’m quite happy with the new system in place. Casual players can benefit equally from time spent PvP’ing without having to worry about the pesky honor decay. I suppose this is where the hardcore PvP’ers chime in with, “Nubs!” Or “N00bs” or any variation thereof, but I think there’s a huge difference between stupid people and people who have less time to play a game.
[Tangent Alert: Speaking of nubs, I hate that term. The evolution of newbie > noob > n00b > nub, baffles me. Has it become that the more you can misspell the more of an uber gamer you are? I truly wonder this. If so, I will make my next post all but illegible.]
Back to our regularly scheduled programming…
It’s also nice to have the honor update every day instead of having to wait a week to see how you did. I’m an instant gratification kind of girl, and this serves me fine.
Next on my to-”buy” list, The Grand Marshal’s Stave. Which is not as ideal for a Mage as the Mageblade/Tome of Power (I know), but screw it. It’s awesome-looking and I have a thing for staves:
And on a relative note, I point you to this, because it made me laugh a lot. Probably only funny if you play WoW or can relate through a different-but-similar game experience. Though really, if you don’t play WoW I don’t know why you would’ve read this far down this post, anyway. ;)

I play a horde mage and I seriously want that high warlord caster dagger and the offhand. I have the 20 AB marks to get the dagger already so I’m still working on the honor. pvping is all I’ve been doing ever since I got back to playing a few days ago.

The dagger/tome has a +20 damage increase over the staff .. but I am such a staff-lover lol. I am a little torn, though.
How much for the dagger/tome? The staff is 45,000 honor + 40 AV marks. Got the marks. Working on the honor.

dagger is 22,500 honor and 20 ab marks. the tome is 22,500 honor and 40 ab marks. That’s a lot of pvping! I only have 2k honor so far =(

Haha, slacker. I spent 10,000 pts on the rare shoulders and boots (to get the set’s +23 dmg boost - and cause the shoulders are so spiffy and match so well with my Robes of the Archmage!) :D And yesterday I had 8,443 pts left and and we’ll see after today’s update.
Hey Angelo, what server are you on? I’m on Elune. Do our servers go in bgs together? Maybe we’ve killed each other at some point … haha!

yeah I’ve been slacking on pvp since I’m re-leveling my herbalism. Had it at 300 before but I dropped it to get tailoring to craft a robe of the archmage. Now I have herbalism again. It’s at 210 now so i still have a bit more to go.
I checked the cross realm bg groups and we’re not in the same group. I play in bronzebeard.

Nice stave i play on sentinels as a 63 mage…Gona take about 6 days to get the stave but i think its worth it…….Cant wait to get it my character name is blindlight add me we might be able to tag up on some horde lol
