Xbox 360 Shortages Hurt Microsoft’s Pocket

It looks like the shortage of Xbox 360s is taking a financial toll on Microsoft’s Home & Entertainment division. According to Next Generation, they’ve lost $293 million. At the same time last year, they (and by ‘they’ I am still talking about the H&E division) were at a $55 million profit.
But that’s okay. It’s not like Microsoft is in financial trouble.
Revenue for the next quarter ending March 31, 2006 is forecasted between $10.9 billion and $11.2 billion. Microsoft expects 2006 revenue for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006 to be between $44 billion and $44.5 billion.
For the whole company, net income for the quarter was $3.7 billion, and revenues for the quarter hit a record $12 billion, up 9 percent over the previous year.
All of those numbers make my brain hurt. Think of the starving children…
