Xbox Magazine On Xbox Live
The Official Xbox Magazine will be available in digital form through Xbox Live. The digimag, entitled OXM Digital, will be available for 200 points an issue which breaks down roughly to $2.50. The issues will also include demos potentially only available to OXM subscribers, as well as videos, themes, gamer pics, and other content that would be difficult or impossible to pull off in print.
Brilliant move all around as I’m sure the number of paper magazine subscribers is dwindling in this technological era.
For those who are already OXM print subscribers and are wondering what will happen to your subscription, Editor Francesca Reyes puts your fears to rest:
“But as a reader of OXM, you’re already paying money for the magazine and the disc, right? Well fear not: You’ll still receive all those demos we run on OXM Digital on the disc. So if you’re not on Live or choose not to use your MS Points on OXM Digital (though the suits upstairs will probably kill me for saying that) we’ll still take care of you with the OXM disc.”
So it all works out. At least, until the complaining starts over the exclusive demos one has to pay for. I suppose it will depend what sort of demos OXM and Microsoft will decide to make “exclusive”.
